This is a Thursday-Sunday weekend (20 - 23 Nov 2025) including a birding trip up Sani Pass and to grasslands, Mist-belt Forest and wetlands. The weekend is preceded by a 2-session online course.

We aim to find the local Big Five: Drakensberg Rockjumper, Drakensberg Siskin, Mountain Pipit, Bearded Vulture and Gurney's Sugarbird. And many more, including three cranes, Bush Blackcap, Barratt's Warbler and Buff-streaked Chat.

Workshop Cost

The cost of online course and guiding is R950 per person.

Course and workshop structure

The preparatory 2x 90 mins  Zoom online sessions provides background for birding and field event.

 

Session 1: Monday, 22 October 2025 at 19:00.

Begin Birding fundamentals. 20 Birds. Introduction to Wolfhuiskraal.

Session 2: Tuesday, 23 October 2025 at 19:00.

              Techniques. 30 new birds.

 

Workshop itinerary:

Friday or Tuesday afternoon: Arrival, afternoon birding. Evening discussion around campfire.

Saturday or Wednesday: 2 field trips on foot, 2 car-based outings. Lunch and evening feedback sessions.

Sunday or Thursday morning: 2 field trips and feedback over lunch. Return home.
