Birding in Himeville and Underberg
75 Common Local Birds!
This is a one-off customised birding course for the Himeville/Underberg district, using online sessions and a field outing. It is for both novice and new birders; the course sets a platform for a lifelong enjoyment of birds.
It is a 3 session online course, each session 90 mins and carried out via Zoom. There is a Saturday field session. Booking into 24 June on the booking page books you onto the whole course and field event.
The course is run by Aldo Berruti, a very experienced and online birding coach. This is an unique offering in South Africa. You will find out how to become a birder by learning the techniques which allow you to easily identify any bird. Aldo will show you ways to adapt birding to your own personal needs. The course is not just rote-learning the characters of 75 common birds. We use many techniques to engage and hold your interest during each session.

Course Price

at 08.00 - the outing will be vehicle-based.

The course comprises three 75-90 minute sessions as shown below:
Session 1. The foundation: Why, how and basics of bird identification. Resources and 20 birds.
Session 2. More skills, binoculars, seeing and 28 birds.
Session 3. Vocals, AI and 27 birds.
The course includes detailed presentations, links to recordings of each session which are available for 7 days, and permanent low-res pdfs at the end of the course for reference.
I offer an interactive and relaxed experience in small groups to support learning.
