This course of 110 species is designed to meet the needs of two groups of birders. Firstly, for residents of the Western Cape, this course covers most of the species you will encounter which are not inlcuded in the Begin Birding Course (60 species) and Wetlands with Aldo (94 species).

 

Secondly, for the visitor to the western Cape, this course covers most of the special birds (endemics and restricted-range species of south-western South Africa) that you will hope to encounter there. For some key species, I will indicate where to find them.

 

I will use my well-established protocols of GISS, Top Bottom Middle and other techniques to highlight key characters. I use superb images and vocalisations (where appropriate) to help you identify birds. I will engage you with polls, annotation techniques, and chat room to enhance your memory recall. We provide time-restricted links to Zoom video recordings allowing you to review sessions. You receive permanent hard copy of the sessions in the form of pdfs of the courses.

 

Course price:

The cost for all 3 sessions is R375 for one person, and R525 for  2 or more. For pensioners the cost is R275 for one person and R375 for 2 or more.

Session 1. The Cape Peninsula.

Session 2. North to Langebaan, east to Agulhas.

Session 3. The hinterland – into and over the mountains.
